How can CEOP help me?

CEOP helps to keep children and young people safe online. CEOP helps thousands of children and young people every year who have been in a similar situation to you.

If someone scary or bad has happened to you online we will talk to you to find out what has happened and to help you keep safe.
If you make a report to us it will be read by one of our friendly Child Protection Advisors who will make contact with you.

If something scary or bad has happened to your friend online we will make contact with you to talk to you about what you have told us in your report and then work with you to make your friend safe.

If you make a report to us it will be read by one of our Child Protection Advisors who will then make contact with you to discuss the details.

What will the Child Protection Advisor who contacts me be like?

A Child Protection Advisor is someone:

  • Who will try to help your friend
  • Who will be easy to talk to
  • Who will not be shocked by what you tell them
  • Who will be honest with you
  • Who will not judge or blame anyone
  • Who will make decisions with you and your friend where possible
  • Who will talk to your friend and explain how they can help them

If your friend is in immediate danger, please call the police on 999 straight away.

Please try not to worry, you have done nothing wrong and we will do all we can to help you.
In order to help keep you safe we might have to tell other professionals what has happened to you.  This is to make sure you get the help you need.  We might not be able to keep what you tell us a secret but we will only share what has happened with trusted adults who we know will be able to help us keep you safe. We will always take your feelings and wishes into account when deciding the best ways to help you.
The CEOP Child Protection Advisors are here to help and advise you.  If you think you are in immediate danger, please call the police on 999 straight away.
If you feel you are not ready to make a report but would like to speak to someone in confidence you can call Childline on 0800 1111.
